Bizspoke 10th anniversary special 

 

KOI Thé, Taiwan’s renowned bubble tea brand under 50Lan, continues to expand its global footprint.
 

When entering the Japanese market, KOI Thé partnered with Bizspoke to develop a tailored retail system to support its operations.

 

In this interview, Ken from KOI Thé Japan shares insights into the collaboration and how technology has supported their expansion.

Building on experience from Hong Kong and Macau

The partnership between Bizspoke and KOI Thé began during the early stages of their Hong Kong and Macau operations, where LS Retail was first implemented.
 

These experiences built strong confidence in both the system’s stability and Bizspoke’s technical expertise.

As a result, when expanding into Japan, KOI Thé naturally chose the same system as a solid foundation for its operations.

Operational requirements in Japan

Unlike many other industries, beverage retail demands both speed and accuracy, while also adapting to Japan’s local operational practices.

Core requirements for beverage stores:

  • High-volume order processing and fast drink preparation

  • Consistent drink quality

  • Minimal staff training time

Operational requirements in Japan:

  • Different tax handling for dine-in and takeaway orders

  • High usage of cash payments with automated change systems

  • Accurate recording of store operational data

As such, the store system is not merely a point-of-sale solution, but the core of the entire operational workflow.

A system designed for Japan

Built on the LS Retail platform, Bizspoke developed a comprehensive operational system for KOI Thé Japan, including:

  • POS ordering system

  • Fully customised Kitchen Display System (KDS) with ingredient-level details

  • Integration with automated cash handling (notes and coins)

  • Store operational data management

 

Through this integration, ordering, preparation, and payment processes are seamlessly connected.

Once an order is placed, it is instantly displayed on the KDS system, showing:

  • Order number

  • Total number of cups

  • Drink name

  • Sugar and ice levels

  • Ingredients, toppings and special instructions (e.g. delivery orders or special requests)

As the standard LS Retail KDS could not fully meet KOI Thé’s operational needs, Bizspoke developed a fully customised KDS tailored specifically for their workflow.


The system displays both preparation details and real-time progress, and synchronises across multiple KDS screens.

This enables staff to manage preparation and drink-making simultaneously, maintaining a stable and well-organised workflow even during peak hours.

Integration with an automated cash drawer

 

Compared to other regions, cash payments remain widely used in Japan, and automated cash-handling systems are common in retail environments.

Bizspoke integrated an automated cash drawer for KOI Thé Japan, enabling:

  • Automated cash acceptance and change dispensing

  • Reduced human error in cash handling

  • Improved checkout efficiency

One system across the globe 

One of Bizspoke’s key strengths is the ability to deploy and support systems across multiple regions.

Since KOI Thé’s Hong Kong and Macau stores already operate on the same system, many modules could be reused for Japan.

 

This approach enables
